How About Some Fried Dough? Psst! These Beignets Are Super Easy to Make!

Mardi Gras blues, anyone? If anything, I’m missing the excuse to eat the good GOOD fried stuffβ€”the fluffy pillows of dough that while traditionally topped with powdered sugar can be upgraded with fresh berries AND a drizzle of Nutella.

Don’t worry, my indulgences aren’t everyday occurrences. I only wish they could be!

This easy, fuss and yeast-free recipe is a one pot shop that allows for less prepping time and more enjoying time. Seriously, nomz nomz, ladies! It’s time to fry her up!

Easy Beignets

  • Total Time: 1h 10m

  • 1 cup Water or Milk
  • 4 ounces (1stick) Butter
  • 2 ounces Ricotta
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup All purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 4 Eggs
  • Oil for Frying
  • 2 cups Mixed Berries
  • 2 tablespoons Nutella

  1. In a small sauce pot, combine water or milk, butter, sugar, salt and mix until the butter melts.
  2. Once the butter has melted add flour and mix vigorously using a wooden spoon. You want the dough to "dry out." As soon as the bottom of the pot starts to film over, take the dough off.
  3. In a stand mixer, mix the dough on low- medium speed until the steam starts to disappear.
  4. Add your ricotta and eggs one by one until the mixture is smooth.
  5. Cover and let cool in the refrigerator for an hour.
  6. Heat 2-3 inches of oil to fry, over low medium heat until it is around 325F.
  7. Shape the Beignets into balls and fry until golden pillows.
  8. I top mine with powdered sugar, fresh berries, and a little drizzle of Nutella. Enjoy!
