If you’re lucky enough to live in the West Coast right now, we are very jealous. Now that November is in full swing, New York City weather is getting a bit cray. It’s windy one day, sunny the next and biting cold the day after. We can’t help but think back to the summer when we didn’t need four layers to walk outside and to the days when we didn’t end up shedding those four layers throughout the day because of the weather changes.

Cue Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness,” because we’re having some major summer nostalgia right about now. Above all, we miss five things the most. Can you guess what they are?

Give up? Keep on reading and see what they are…

#5 Films

Summer is one of the best film seasons throughout the year, and this year was no different. 2014 saw the release of some of the most moving and beautifully-made films to date. From Richard Linklater’s “Boyhood,” Zach Braff’s “Wish I Were Here” and Gia Coppola “Palo Alto,” escaping the blazing heat in the air-conditioned theaters was our favorite activity over the summer.

Now that fall is quickly turning to winter, we are sorely missing the release of one amazing film after the other. Guess we’ll just have to cuddle up in bed with a warm blanket and Netflix… doesn’t sound so bad after all, does it?

What were some of your favorite films released this summer?

#4 Trips to the Beach

Long gone are the days when we could spontaneously pack a bag and head to the beach without freezing while we’re there… When the weather is as temperamental and crazy as it has been over the last several days, serious planning is required to even go outside. No joke, a vacation is already desperately needed. We’ll happily trade 30 degree weather (Brrr!) for any temperature above 70 degrees… California, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Mexico… We’re there in a heartbeat if given the chance.

#3 Music Festivals

Music festivals are all the rage, and we understand why. With a seemingly endless list of options (Bonnaroo, Coachella, Firefly…), music festivals are the place to transform yourself and take on multiple personalities. At music festivals, we can be rockstars as we take in some of the most incredible music acts. We can relax and have a cold drink while hanging out with friends. Really, whatever you want, there’s a show out there for you. We’re already getting excited about the next round of shows, and it’s only November…

#2 Food

From summer barbecues to eating ice cream cones out on walks, suddenly these small treats feel like luxuries in the dead of the cold. Beer-battered fish tacos, roasted stone fruit, whipped avocado dip, or strawberry shortcake? Yeah, our mouth is watering, too, and we’re not ashamed to say that we want them all… at the same time.

#1 Endless Outfit Options

Layering is fun… until it’s not. Don’t get us wrong, scarves, coats and boots come together in ah-mazing combinations, but we can’t help missing skirts and dresses without covering up so our legs don’t feel like icicles.

Take us back to the days when we could throw on a simple white t-shirt and a pair of shorts for effortless, minimal style.

Do you miss summer as much as we do? Let us know below!
