We don’t know about you, but as 2014 winds down, our desire to travel grows ever the more intense and profound. It’s true, we’ve caught the travel bug bad—real bad. In fact, it’s afflicted us so much so that everything now seems to be a cross between a pleasant, short-lived daydream and a desperate realization that more money in our bank accounts could only really help our severe cases of jet set fever.

The inability to travel (right this minute), however, hasn’t stopped us from living vicariously through Pinterest and Tumblr. Seriously though, we’ve made our very own cheesy Places to Visit Before You Die When You Save Enough Money.

So, without further ado, here’s convincing evidence as to why we think you should wanderlust with us. Actually, scratch the thinking, we strongly suggest you join the daydream team.

Oh, Mama! We’ve got to go to Gansu, China!

As though straight out of Dr. Seuss’ hilly mountainscape in Oh! The Places You’ll Go! the red sandstone and mineral deposits that make up the Zhangye Danxia National Geological Park span over 200 square miles!

This Park Turns into A Lake!

Just in case Grüner See isn’t already on your list, we’re giving a little extra attention and a helluva lot of love to this gem of a place in Styria, Austria. During the winter, the lake within the park is only a couple meters deep. Come summertime, ice and snow on the surrounding mountains melt and collect before engulfing the park entirely. If you’re a hikers by winter and scuba diver by summer, this is definitely the place for you!

Shine Bright Like a Diamond

Blown away by the CGIs in Life of Pi? Guess what? Bioluminescence actually exists. A trip to Vaadhoo, Maldives might just be the perfect place to tan, relax, and bathe in glow-in-the-dark phytoplankton.

So This is Love

It’s been said that lovers who come together to to make a wish at this romantic spot in Klevan, Ukraine might just see their dreams come true. The tunnel of love is a 3 kilometer railway section that leads to a fiberboard factory that is still operating today!

Flowers a Bloomin’

Flowers at Hatachi Seaside Park in Hitachinaka, Ibaraki, Japan bloom all year round. Home to the famous baby blue eyes and the annual Rock in Japan concert, not to mention 170 varieties of tulips, this place is a gardener’s heaven!

Will you be traveling anywhere special for the Holidays? Are you wanderlusting over some place in particular? Be sure to let us know!
