Fo de Frizz
Coconut Oil is rich in proteins, fatty acids, vitamin B and C, zinc, potassium, and iron. Work the oil into your hair from mid-shaft downwards. If your scalp needs a little extra loving (if it’s dry) you can go ahead and massage a small amount throughout your head. Once that is done, cover your head with a shower cap and let the oil sit. For results and maximum absorption, add a little heat with either a blow dryer or a towel around your head. Leave for 20 minutes. Shampoo out. Remember, oil and water don’t mix. When shampooing, lather the shampoo first before adding water to remove as much of the oil as possible.
Fo de Extra Dry
A little milk and honey goes a long way. Add one to two tablespoons of honey to half a cup of whole/full fat milk. Make sure you stir well. The key is to mix the two ingredients into one lumpless concoction. Pour or massage the mixture into your hair. Allow it to sit for at least half an hour, again, in shower cap but without heat. Then, shampoo away. If milk is not your thing, you can swap it out for half an avocado. The end result? Your hair should feel healthy, shiny, and soft.
Fo de Oily
Oily hair? Apple cider vinegar will be your new best friend. ACV can help remove build up from styling products and conditioners. It can also restore your hair’s pH balance. Combine 1/4 a cup of ACV with the grated peel of an entire lemon and pour over your scalp and hair, letting it sit for 15 minutes. To avoid any potential mess, do this while in the shower. Get some shaving done (if you need to) while you wait. Then, rinse. Et voilà!
Fo de Flaky
Bet you didn’t know bananas can help increase the moisture of your hair, smooth frizz, AND sooth itchy scalps. Mash together 1/2 a ripe banana, two tablespoons of honey, a few drops of almond oil and allow it to set under a shower cap for 20 minutes before rinsing and shampooing.[separator type=”thin”]
Fo de Volume-Less
Here, here. Try some beer! In fact, the yeast in beer can help life up your limp locks. Combine 1/2 of flat beer with one teaspoon of sunflower oil and a raw egg. Mix together and apply to DAMP hair. Let it sit for 15 minutes before rising with COOL water. Remember, the water must be cool as to not cook the egg. Once rinsed, you can readjust the water to satisfy your shampooing needs.
So, what say you? Will you be trying some of these at-home hair hacks out? Let us know!
