The “Before” Apartment Tour

[infobox subtitle=”(Not Entirely Unpacked)” bg=”purple” color=”black” opacity=”on” space=”30″ link=”no link”]My New Apartment[/infobox] Big change for your Lo Lo this past weekend (and part of why I’ve been slow to post the past few days and weeks) – I moved!  No, not to a new state.  Just a new neighborhood, which in Manhattan can feel like half a country away.  My new hood?  The intricate, beautifully grimy, restaurant-heavy Nolita, sitting above China Town, in between Soho and the LES, and dangerously close to the Whole Foods on Houston.

I’m loving my new space, even though I haven’t unpacked yet and I currently have 2 chairs and my mattress on the ground.  All new furniture and home decor will be arriving over the coming weeks and once it’s all complete I’ll be giving you the “After” apartment tour as the follow-up to this messy “Before” tour.

I know a lot of people want to show off their environment in its most pristine condition but I thought giving you the immediate post-move version would be fun.  Enjoy!

  1. Love the video – the apartment looks lovely!A few questions: 1) what nailpolish and lipstick are you wearing?
    2) where did you get that hat? I love it!
    3) (probably more suited for one of your ask me anything videos) but a few years ago there were pictures in the tabloids about how you had gained weight since the hills finished filming. And I was wondering how you got that weight off (because you look great now!)? And what your recommendations would be for those of us who are trying to do the same.

  2. What Vitamix do you have and what do you have to say about owning a vitamix? I’m seriously considering buying one and I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions since you are after a healthy professional chef! 😉
ps LOVE the apartment great find

  3. Lo, love your place! You need to move your bed and dresser, though. Put your bed on the far wall to the right when you walk in the door, with the head of the bed against the wall . Put your dresser on the left wall when you walk in. The flow will be much better!

  4. How did you find a new apartment? I’m moving to NYC in July and would love to hear some advice from everyone. Also, what are the fun, lively neighborhoods to live in?

Why I Fast on Mondays

Monday: oh, the duality of it. I love Monday and I also hate it with a deep passion. I hate that it will take a full 5 days for the weekend/nachos to arrive. I hate that I have to answer my emails. I hate that my alarm goes off and wakes me from my Sunday slumber. Yet, once I’m conscious I remember that I love waking up early on a summer Monday, hitting the streets before 8am when the city is still sleepy and heading out for a slow sweat at SLT. I love hitting the re-set button and having another chance to do and be. I also love fasting on Mondays, my chosen day of the week to detox until dinnertime (if you’re forced to begin your week, you may as well dive in head first).
