Tricks (and Treats)

So you all know that my bathroom is filled to the brim with lotions, potions, lipsticks, and soaps. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my products but it turns out that sometimes there are alternative ways to keeping your skin and hair looking great that you may have never thought of before.

I moved recently and on a shopping trip to a huge everything store that will remain nameless because I’m ashamed of how much stuff I buy there I happened to pass by the Humidifier section and was immediately intrigued by the soft billows of evaporated water gently swirling out of the machines. The employee told me that not only does a humidifier improve your health by creating an optimum room climate, they also work wonders for your skin and hair.

I’ve always been a Dyson fan so I went with that one: the Dyson Humidifier that has so many features and benefits you’re sure to be blown away.  Lets start with the fact that this humidifier is honestly really good looking.  Like, really, really good looking.  🙂  I chose the white model because it matches the design of my home and it’s shaped nicely and looks totally chic!

Next, because Dyson is awesome (I also have their vacuum and it’s pretty dope) they’ve designed this humidifier so that the water in the machine is treated and 99% bacteria-free, so safe to use and perfect for even your baby’s room.  Most humidifiers have nasty bacteria growing in them apparently and the technology in the Dyson prevents that from happening with proper case and use.

Now – the beauty tricks I first mentioned…Having skin and hair that is moisturized with the help of the mist coming out of the machine, especially going into winter, is critical for looking and feeling your best.  I have seen a noticeable result in the quality of my skin and hair since I started using it with the weather getting colder.  My skin isn’t dry and freaking out over the weather change!  It’s awesome!

Humidifiers in general also support healthy skin by preventing dryness that causes itching, and helps to alleviate eczema.  They also soothe dry eyes, and making your hair strong by retaining moisture.

With all of these benefits, you should probably be adding a humidifier (pick the Dyson like me, wooo) to your wish list this holiday season.  You can thank me later. 🙂

  1. Is this warm-mist or cool-mist humidifier? I know cool-mist is good for sinuses, migraines, and dry eyes, but I wonder if it also has the beauty benefits?

Why I Fast on Mondays

Monday: oh, the duality of it. I love Monday and I also hate it with a deep passion. I hate that it will take a full 5 days for the weekend/nachos to arrive. I hate that I have to answer my emails. I hate that my alarm goes off and wakes me from my Sunday slumber. Yet, once I’m conscious I remember that I love waking up early on a summer Monday, hitting the streets before 8am when the city is still sleepy and heading out for a slow sweat at SLT. I love hitting the re-set button and having another chance to do and be. I also love fasting on Mondays, my chosen day of the week to detox until dinnertime (if you’re forced to begin your week, you may as well dive in head first).
