[title subtitle=”Soothe and relax your body”]Bomb Your Bathtub[/title] Happy Hump Day, LoDown fam! Congratulations, you’ve made it to the middle of the week. If you’re stressed out and in need of some major muscle relaxation, I’ve got just the right recipe for you. Today, we’re making lavender-infused bath bombs!
To make one, you really only need baking soda, citric acid, and water. I’m, however, jazzing things up with some Epsom salt, essential oils, and color! In case you didn’t already know, Epsom salt helps ease stress and soothe muscles. Essential oils and natural oils, on the other hand, are great for hydrating the skin. I specifically chose to make a lavender-themed bath bomb because the scent induces calming qualities. But, if you’re more of peppermint or chamomile kind of gal, you do you. The key is to pick a smell that pleases your nasal passageway![infobox subtitle=”” bg=”purple” color=”white” opacity=”off” space=”30″ link=”no link”]Here’s What You Need:[/infobox]
Don’t forget to also have two mixing bowls, a whisk, and measuring supplies ready!
- 3 tsp almond oil (castor oil and coconut oil works too)
- 2 tsp essential oil (lavender)
- 1 tsp water
- few drops of food or soap colorant
*Enough to make about 3 bath bombs (using 60mm molds).

1. Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl. I added some dried lavender to the mix but that’s optional.
2. Combine wet ingredients in a separate bowl. Since this mixture consists of oils and water, keep in mind that these two substances will not blend.
3. Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with dry ingredients. Make sure you go slowly, one teaspoon at a time, while stirring with a whisk. You don’t want to pour all of the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients in one go. It is normal for the mixture to have small clumps. Your mixture should feel a little damp. Also, if you want the color of your bath bomb to be more vibrant, mix in more coloring.
4. Pack mixture into molds. On one side of the mold, I added some more dried lavender to give it a nice topping for the bath bomb. Again, this step is optional. When packing the mixture, make sure you press it into the mold tightly. I found that the two halves combined quite nicely when I overpacked to the point where some of the mixture spilled over the mold’s rims.
5. Press the molds together. After packing both sides of the molds with some extra mixture on top, press the two halves together. Make sure the both sides of the molds close tightly.
6. Take off one side of the mold and let dry. Wait about a minute before taking off one of the sides and let the product dry overnight. If the bath bomb comes apart when you remove one side, pour the product back in the mixture, add a little bit of water, and try again. This takes quite a bit of patience and trial and error!
Voila! Your bath bomb is ready to help you relax and keep you in zen mode. To store your bath bombs, I recommend putting them in a plastic container with a lid.
