12 Sandals That Will Strengthen Your Shoe Game

The slight snow hiccup that dusted city pavements earlier this week will certainly not stop the LoDown family from celebrating the official start of spring 2016. This week, we are welcoming the change of seasons with a foray into what I believe will be the biggest sandal trend. Trust me, with a fresh pedicure and the right pair of flat open-toed shoes, you’ll be owning the warmer weather in no time.

As you know, I’ve always been the kind of girl who is unafraid of experimenting with different looks and outfits. You probably didn’t know, however, that I have a knack for doing the same with footwear. Year after year, I collect sandal after sandal. They’ve taken quite a soft spot in my heart and my closet. The amazing thing them though is that the trends remain pretty consistent. Still, like any fashion statement, they still get upgraded to match the aesthetic of the Spring/Summer runway season.

Personally, I prefer a pair of gladiators that end around my ankle. I really believe that the right pair of gladiators can help create a leg-slimming look. And, when I want to achieve that effortless and classic bo-ho look, I pull out and put on my intense pair of gladiators that wrap all the way up to my knees.

Why I Fast on Mondays

Monday: oh, the duality of it. I love Monday and I also hate it with a deep passion. I hate that it will take a full 5 days for the weekend/nachos to arrive. I hate that I have to answer my emails. I hate that my alarm goes off and wakes me from my Sunday slumber. Yet, once I’m conscious I remember that I love waking up early on a summer Monday, hitting the streets before 8am when the city is still sleepy and heading out for a slow sweat at SLT. I love hitting the re-set button and having another chance to do and be. I also love fasting on Mondays, my chosen day of the week to detox until dinnertime (if you’re forced to begin your week, you may as well dive in head first).
