New Year, Same Night Time Beauty Routine!

Hello my lovelies!! I hope all of your holidays were amazing and filled with lots of love,laughter & yummy recipes!

Now I’m sure most of you have geared up and gotten your New Year’s Resolutions in order but are you keeping up and being consistent with your previous ones?! I feel like consistency is essential to achieving any and everything you want out of life! Whether it’s something as simple as sticking to a skin care routine to doing some type of physical activity for at least 20 minutes a day, forming good habits will help you out in all aspects of your life!

With that being said, I’d like to share with you beauties what my nighttime beauty routine consists of!

Step 1: Remove Makeup

Literally as soon as I walk in the door I head straight to the bathroom to take off my makeup because I know if I don’t do it right away I run the risk of getting lazy and forgetting- falling asleep with makeup on is a huge NO NO. I typically will use makeup wipes for wiping my day away since they’re easy to use and mess free!

Step 2: Bath Time

While I’m removing my makeup I’ll have my bath running that way I can hop into my warm bath as soon as possible. Taking a long hot bath to detox and de-stress is what I look forward to most at the end of a long day! This is my time to meditate and reflect and wash away any negative energy I may have absorbed during a hectic day in the city (I really wish washing away problems could work in real life but hey it’s more so the mental aspect of it that I appreciate!!) Turning off the lights, lighting some candles, keeping my phone far away from me,soaking in some Epsom Salt and using Love Wellness’ ph balancing cleanser are how I enjoy showing myself self love and chillin’ the F out!

Step 3: Skin Care

Once I’m all pruney and out of the bath, I’ll throw on a cozy robe and start showing my skin some love! After cleansing my face, I apply 3 different products. Then I’ll dabble on another one of my fav. products from SkinMedica, the Lytera 2.0 Serum to help brighten up my complexion and finally I’ll finish up with Dermalogica Active Moist which contains some of my favorite ingredients such as lemon, lavender and cucumber which all help to refine my skin while providing deep hydration throughout the night!

Step 4: Technology Off

Now that my skin is prepped and ready to stay hydrated throughout the night, I’ll take a quick moment to check my phone for any important emails or texts I may have missed but after that I stay away from all technology, yes including Netflix, an hour before going to bed. Instead of binging my new favorite show or getting wrapped up on Instagram, I’ll read a book until my eyes and brain finally want to shut off. I’ve found this helps tremendously with being able to fall asleep faster and better and getting my 8 hours of beauty sleep is SUPER important for me and for those around me the next morning! HAHA

Holiday Travel Tips To Help Keep Your Mind, Body & Soul In Check

It’s that crazy time of year again when we stress out over schedules, airfares, luggage, gifts, diet and exercise! AHH it’s enough to drive you crazy but it doesn’t have to! It’s mind over matter baby and I’ve got some tips to help you have one less thing to stress out about during the holiday season.

Traveling. The word alone gives me anxiety but I’ve finally figured out ways to help ease the process for me and make it an enjoyable experience.

First things first, just breathe. Before heading out on your long or short journey home or wherever you destination may be, take a few moments to meditate and relax. Taking a few deep breaths can really help to calm your mind and help you think clearly- trust me this is useful when making sure you don’t leave anything behind.

Speaking of leaving things behind, make a check list! Write down a list of everything you’ll be needing for your trip and start checking them off once you have it packed or in your handbag ready to go! This is honestly one of the best old school ways to ensure you don’t forget your passport or favorite moisturizer!

Leave early. Whether you’re traveling by car or plane, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to get to where you’re going just in case anything unexpected happens along the way(i.e. traffic, THE WORST!!) I rather be super early and relaxed than rushing and stressed!

Pack healthy snacks!! We all know the airport literally has no healthy food options or if they happen to have a packet of raw almonds available it costs an arm and a leg so to prevent from reaching for the fast food, pack a few granola bars and fruits to snack on! I know it can be a bit tricky with what you can and can’t take with you through TSA so I also suggest making sure you eat right before heading to the airport. Oatmeal, lean protein and TONS of water are all great examples of what you should eat pre-flight while sugar, alcohol and salty snacks are all things you should avoid-save the wine for when you arrive and can unwind!

Freshen Up. Am I the only one that feels gross during a travel day?! It doesn’t matter if I’m on a 5 hour flight or just a 2 hour car ride once I get in I have to immediately shower but sometimes life happens and we don’t always get that luxury so we must prepare! I personally love carrying around cleansing wipes with me, they’re easy to pack and no fuss at all! Stay Cozy & Learn How To Make Your Own Matcha At Home

Hello my soon to be snow bunnies! (literally supposed to start snowing in NY this week and I’m not ready to give up the fall yet!)

If I’m being completely honest I’m not a huge fan of the cold weather but I do love the idea of cozying up on the couch with a huge blanket, some fuzzy socks, the fireplace going and a warm beverage! Typically a hot chocolate would go perfect in that equation but I feel like a matcha would be a great substitute for a relaxing snow day vibe.

There is no shortage of cute places to go to in the city to get my matcha fix (Cha Cha Matcha is one of my favs!) but the thought of putting on a bunch of layers just to satisfy my craving is exhausting so I figure I better learn to do it myself and who better to teach me than “The Golden Girl of Wellness” herself, Candice Kumai!

Instead of going the matcha latte route which is usually more sugary, I had Candice come over to show me how to make traditional matcha and the best part is it only took 30 seconds and it’s more beneficial because you’re getting the most vitamin C and antioxidants out of it!

Directions:

  • Measure 1-2 teaspoons Japanese matcha powder.
  • Using a chasen whisk (bamboo whisk), sift your powder, gently.
  • Add hot water that’s been slightly cooled, not boiling, about 185 degrees F.
  • Whisk like crazy, until tiny, cute bubbles form.

I’ve made a strong effort to move towards natural and all-natural beauty and wellness products in my home – just in the same way as I’ve moved towards sourcing food for myself that is local, organic, and as whole as possible. What To Do When You Have a Problem “Down There”

Okay, TMI time: I have had a yeast infection before.

But is it really TMI?
