Beauty Raid: Topshop

When it comes to buying beauty products, it’s always easy to rely on our favorite cosmetic and drug stores for anything from high-end products to cheap drugstore dupes. And although we may shudder at the thought of not having a Sephora or Ulta within a ten-mile radius, sometimes the best things can be found in the most unexpected places. In our new Store Raid Series, we venture away from big department stores to find the best of beauty throughout the city. With hidden beauty gems like these, maybe we’ll think about skipping Sephora after all…
_MG_1338We weren’t always as lucky to have Topshop on American soil. A long, long time ago (or six years to be exact), we remember the only way we could find the British-based brand was in a few Nordstrom stores across the country or through our internet browser. The multinational fashion retailer started out small in the basement of a department store on Oxford Street, before branching out to other countries during the early 2000s. By the time the first flagship Topshop store opened on Broadway in 2009, we had already fallen head-over-heels in love with the brand. Thankfully, we no longer have to travel all the way across the pond to get our Topshop fix.

When we think Topshop, the first thing that comes to mind might not be beauty. We think of trendy street wear, classic little black dresses, or the fact that resident It-Girl Cara Delevingne can be found on every campaign ad or billboard for the brand since last year. Imagine our complete surprise when we ventured into the Topshop store on Fifth Ave. and found that not only does Topshop have a wide selection of beauty products, but that they’re actually reasonably priced and surprisingly affordable. If that means we get to buy five different lipsticks and still get to splurge on dinner, count us in.

Below, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite Topshop beauty finds. With the cutest packaging and a huge selection of products, it’s impossible to pick up just one.

_MG_1352Kabuki brushes are ideal for applying powder products and this synthetic hair one from Topshop is perfect for all of your bronzing needs. Feeling a bolder look for nighttime? We love the Mono Eye Shadow in Shagri-La with iridescent shimmer and medium coverage.

_MG_1357We never could resist a good lipstick and Topshop’s Lips Collection is no exception. With a satin matte finish and long-lasting color payoff, you can choose from over 20 shades to find the perfect lipstick for any occasion. Our favorite lipstick shade? We’ve fallen in love with Lips in Rio Rio for a flawless orange-red tone just in time for the summer.

_MG_1348We had no idea that Topshop’s beauty line extended into face makeup and primers but there are definitely no complaints here. With oil-absorbing powders and anti-inflammatory ingredients, the Color Correcting Primer is not only good for your skin, but preps your face for flawless foundation application. Remember our deep love for lipstick? None of that could be possible without a good lip primer. Lip Primer in Everlast makes sure your lipstick lasts all throughout the day. Just apply primer over exfoliated lips and layer color for a long-lasting finish.

_MG_1329We admit that we have a bit of a hoarding problem when it comes to nail polish, but it can be tough to resist when the packaging is adorable and the quality is long-wearing. Topshop has a huge selection of nail varnishes, from glittery gold to a matte burgundy. Our favorite picks for the summer? We like to keep things light with a creamy nude like Arabesque or a matte lilac like Reality Bites.
